Blackpool have submitted a bid for Chesterfield winger James Berry, sources have told Football Insider.

The 24-year-old has impressed this season for the Spireites, scoring 10 goals and providing three assists across 27 appearances in all competitions.

The winger has scored 16 goals throughout his entire career, which has predominantly been spent in the National League.

Steve Bruce is looking to add some fire power into his attack for the second half of the campaign, and Berry is a proven threat in the final third.

The former Liverpool youngster is under contract at Chesterfield until 2026, but the League Two side could cash in on him amid interest from the Seasiders.

Chesterfield are in the hunt for promotion this season as they sit 10th in the League Two table.

Blackpool will look to secure James Berry's services

Berry has attracted interest from a number of clubs in recent times as Football Insider revealed a trio of teams were watching him during the summer transfer window.

Blackburn, Swansea, and Watford had all been monitoring the League Two winger,  but he ultimately stuck with Chesterfield for this season.

However, the Seasiders will now provide Berry with another opportunity to make the step up from League Two in January.

Blackpool

Blackpool have already lost Elliot Embleton to Carlisle United in this window and will be keen to ensure the squad remains strong enough to compete this season.

Bruce’s team currently sit 15th in League One after a mixed first half of the season with seven wins, nine draws, and eight defeats.
