Celtic are planning to hijack QPR’s deal for Liverpool’s Owen Beck, sources have told Football Insider.

The Reds are willing to listen to permanent and loan offers for the left-back in this transfer window, and QPR are already in talks over a deal.

The Championship club are currently in pole position to land the 22-year-old, but Celtic are now turning their attention to a possible deal.

With Adam Idah’s transfer finalised, the Scottish giants are free to concentrate on other areas of the squad.

Left-back is a focal point for Brendan Rodgers in this window, as he wants to provide cover and competition for Greg Taylor.

After missing out on Wolves’ Hugo Bueno, the Hoops now have to turn their attention to alternative targets on their shortlist.

Celtic want Owen Beck to push Taylor this season

Having strength in depth is crucial for Celtic if the Scottish giants hope to compete on all fronts this season.

Rodgers had been targeting Bueno, but the 21-year-old has opted to join Feyenoord on a season-long loan instead.

Beck is a promising full-back who has gained most of his playing experience in the Premier League 2 for Liverpool, where he’s provided 11 assists in 50 games.

The left-back spent last season on loan at Dundee and proved his ability to play in the Scottish Premiership.

Beck made 28 appearances for the Dark Blues, scoring twice and providing four assists as he caught Rodgers’ eye.
