Crawley Town are set to name Gateshead boss Rob Elliot as their new manager after reaching a full agreement over terms, sources have told Football Insider.

Elliot, 38, has impressed as manager of National League outfit Gateshead and led them to FA Trophy success last season.

League One outfit Crawley have been searching for a new manager following the departure of Scott Lindsey to MK Dons earlier this month.

Former Newcastle goalkeeper Elliot is now set to take the role with the Red Devils fighting for survival in the third tier.

He became technical director at Gateshead in 2022 after leaving Watford, before ascending into the caretaker manager role a year later after Mike Williamson's departure.

Elliot, who has won seven from 11 in the league this term, was handed a permanent contract in June.

The 38-year-old took charge of 32 league and FA Cup games last term, winning 15 and drawing five.

Gateshead finished sixth, which usually grants a promotion play-off berth - but the club were excluded for not meeting the EFL's ground ownership requirements.

Elliot also led The Tynesiders to a first FA Trophy triumph after beating Solihull Moors on penalties at Wembley in May.

Crawley sit 20th in League One after losing against Bolton on Saturday (28 September) and are next in action against Mansfield on Tuesday (1 October).
