Swansea City have pulled the plug on a move for Crystal Palace winger Jesurun Rak-Sakyi despite agreeing a deal club to club, sources have told Football Insider.

Swansea had agreed a loan deal with Palace for the 23-year-old with both clubs satisfied with the terms.

But the transfer has now fallen through as they were not able to convince Rak-Sakyi to make the move to South Wales this month.

The Crystal Palace academy product spent the first half of the season on loan at Turkish club Caykur Rizespor before being recalled with another move in mind.

He has a contract at Selhurst Park until 2027, and is still expected to spend the second half of the season away from Palace if terms can be agreed.

Swansea City pull plug on Jesurun Rak-Sakyi deal

Rak-Sakyi was sent out on loan by Palace as he does not figure in Oliver Glasner's plans, despite the club having long-term hopes for his development.

The winger enjoyed a relatively productive spell in Turkey before returning to South London, as he made five goal contributions across 11 games for Rizespor.

Swansea had emerged as the leading contenders for his signature, but after pulling the plug, a number of their rivals will now be placed on alert.

Football Insider revealed at the end of the summer transfer window that Crystal Palace are open to offers for Rak-Sakyi with Championship clubs interested.

League leaders Coventry have also been linked with signing Rak-Sakyi on loan, after he spent the last season on loan at Sheffield United.

Crystal Palace loanees return as next moves lined up

Rak-Sakyi is not the only Palace academy product to have had his loan spell cut short, with the Eagles' loan department being kept busy this month.

Owen Goodman had his time at Huddersfield Town cancelled by the Terriers after he dropped out of Lee Grant's first-team plans following an injury.

He has since moved back to League One, after Football Insider exclusively revealed that Goodman was doing a medical at Barnsley ahead of the move.

Meanwhile, Palace opted to recall Danny Imray from his loan spell at Blackpool where he had become a star man for the Tangerines in the first half of the season.

Glasner's squad is extremely short at right-back, with Justin Devenny often asked to fill in, and Imray is set to be part of the squad when Palace face Sunderland.
