Derby County defender Craig Forsyth has agreed a new two-year deal at the club, sources have told Football Insider.

Forsyth was due to be out of contract with the Rams at the end of this month, but Derby have now moved to secure the long-serving defender on a new deal.

The 36-year-old joined Derby from Watford in the summer of 2013 and has made 382 appearances for the club.

He made 42 appearances, notching three goals and four assists, in the 2024-25 campaign as the Rams survived relegation from the Championship.

Derby veteran signs two-year extension

Forsyth started each of the last 12 games of the season under John Eustace as Derby eventually finished 19th in the table.

The former Scotland international played both at left-back and at centre-back during the 2024-25 season.

Meanwhile, the Rams will discover their first opponents in the 2025-26 campaign on 26 June.

Championship duo line up midfielder deal

Elsewhere in the Championship, Football Insider has revealed (7 June) that Bristol City and Swansea City are plotting to sign Empoli midfielder Liam Henderson on a free transfer.

The 29-year-old is in line for a return to the United Kingdom this summer, with clubs in the Championship lining up a move.

Henderson has been in Italy since 2018 - playing for Bari, Hellas Verona, Lecce, Palermo and Empoli.
