Leeds United have seen a loan offer for goalkeeper David Stockdale rejected by Birmingham City, Football Insider sources understand.

Stockdale has found himself frozen out of things at Birmingham having been excluded from pre-season training at St Andrew's and it seems he has no future under Blues boss Garry Monk.

The news has alerted a number of clubs and a well-placed source has told Football Insider that Leeds have made an offer to take Stockdale on loan for the season, covering the majority of his wages, but Birmingham have now turned down the offer leaving Stockdale in limbo.

Stockdale only joined Birmingham last summer from Brighton, but Monk does not see a place for him in his plans going forward with the player being informed to stay away from pre-season training until his future is resolved.

Leeds are in the market for goalkeeping reinforcements this summer after allowing Felix Wiedwald to leave the club to return to Germany with Eintracht Frankfurt after just one season at Elland Road.

Leeds-born Stockdale is understood to be keen on a move to his hometown club, but his future is up in the air after Birmingham rejected Leeds' offer to take him on a season-long loan.
