Manchester United could agree a “surprise” deal to sign PSG star Randal Kolo Muani in the January transfer window, sources have told Football Insider

Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, senior correspondent Pete O’Rourke revealed the French champions are ready to let the 26-year-old move on next month.

The forward could be viewed as a potential replacement for Marcus Rashford after he’s been left out of Ruben Amorim's squad for the past three games.

There is, however, expected to be interest in the France international from several Premier League clubs in the upcoming window.

United’s financial issues could make pulling off such a high-profile deal difficult as Sir Jim Ratcliffe looks to cut costs at Old Trafford.

Kolo Muani is under contract with PSG until June 2028.

Marcus Rashford exit could pave way for Man United signing

Kolo Muani has largely underwhelmed in the French capital since making the £76.4million move from Eintracht Frankfurt in the summer of 2023.

The attacker has started in just two of his 14 outings in all competitions for PSG this season, where he’s scored two goals and laid on one assist.

Luis Enrique’s side are willing to let the Frenchman leave in January, but United’s ability to pull off such a deal will likely depend on whether they can move on Rashford once the transfer window opens.

The Manchester giants are believed to be short on cash after they were close to the profit and sustainability (PSR) limit in 2023-24, while they have paid out more than £20million to sack Erik ten Hag and bring in Amorim this season.
