Man United striker Joe Hugill is undergoing a Carlisle United medical after agreeing a deal, sources have told Football Insider.

The 21-year-old is joining the League Two club on loan for the rest of the season.

Hugill spent the first half the season on loan with Wigan Athletic but was recalled from that spell earlier this month to go on loan elsewhere.

Carlisle have moved to beat off interest from a number of League One and League Two clubs to bring the striker to Brunton Park.

United signed Hugill from Sunderland's academy in 2020 and he was part of the FA Youth Cup-winning squad in 2022.

He made 18 appearances in the first half of this season with Wigan, starting in 11 of those outings.

The youngster notched five goals and one assist during his time with the Latics.

Hugill previously went on loan with non-league Altrincham and League One Burton Albion.

He is under contract at Old Trafford until June 2026 after signing his last extension at United 12 months ago.

The 21-year-old was prolific at youth level for the Red Devils but is yet to make his senior debut for the club.

Carlisle sit bottom of League Two and are in danger of dropping out of the EFL for the first time since the 2004-05 season.

The Cumbrians are seven points from safety under manager Mike Williamson.
