Exclusive: Medical done, West Ham set to seal new signing this week
West Ham are set to complete the signing of Danish centre-back Frederik Alves Ibsen this week, Football Insider can exclusively reveal.
The 21-year-old was in London last month to agree the terms of the deal and successfully completed a medical with the Premier League club.
A Hammers source has told Football Insider that a transfer costing £1.4million is close to completion.
The youngster, who turned 21 in November, has agreed a contract with West Ham.
Danish club Silkeborg accepted a bid last month for Ibsen and granted permission for him to head to the London Stadium.
West Ham had been waiting on securing a work permit for the youngster and are confident they will get that.
The transfer is set to be tied up ahead of the opening of the January window although will be subject to the registration being formalised.
West ham have made strengthening their defence a priority ahead of next month, although manager David Moyes will not be working with a significant budget.
Ibsen is a Denmark Under-21 international who can play centre-back and full back.
He first made his debut in the senior team for Silkeborg in September 2018 in a Danish cup game and has been a regular ever since.
Silkeborg played in the Danish Superliga last season but were relegated to the first division and that has opened the door for the Londoners to make a move.
