Paul Robinson has claimed he can see Philippe Coutinho signing for Tottenham this summer - even if it means offloading players to free up cash to land him.

The former White Hart Lane goalkeeper, speaking exclusively to Football Insider correspondent Dylan Childs, insisted the 27-year-old is still a quality player despite failing to meet expectations at Barcelona.

According to The Mirror, Spurs, Chelsea, Arsenal and Manchester United have made an inquiry about the availability of the creative midfielder this summer.

Coutinho has spent this season on loan at Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich after failing to impress at Barca following his £142million transfer from Liverpool in January 2018.

When asked whether a return to the Premier League with the Lilywhites was realistic, Robinson told Football Insider: "I can see him [joining] a top-six Premier League side - Tottenham included.

"You saw how good he was at Liverpool and when he went to Barca you expected big things from him but it did not work out and he got moved onto Bayern. The Premier League may be a realistic option for him. Whether it is Liverpool or Tottenham he would be an asset anywhere he went.

"Listen, if you can get a player like that then you have decisions to make on what you have in your squad. What does Jose want to work with?

"If you get the option to sign a world-class player like Coutinho you look at the squad and you offload in other areas to allow a player of that quality into your squad."

The Brazil international scored 54 goals and provided 45 assists in his 201 appearances for Liverpool - earning himself the nickname "The Magician".

However, the creative midfielder has struggled for game time in Spain and Germany since his move away from the Premier League.
