Swansea City have agreed a deal to sign Rangers defender Declan John and the player is now undergoing a medical, Football Insider sources understands.

Rangers have given John permission to travel to South Wales for talks and to complete medical tests after agreeing an undisclosed fee with Swansea for the full-back.

John is yet to feature for Rangers this season with summer signing Jon Flanagan starting at left-back.

The recent arrival of Borna Barisic from FC Osijek has John further down the pecking order at Ibrox and Gerrard is willing to let him move on.

John joined Rangers initially on loan last summer and the move became permanent in December and he went on to make 31 appearances last season.

The 23-year-old came through the ranks at Cardiff and he will now make the switch to the Bluebirds' arch rivals.
