Rangers are ready to offer Wes Foderingham a lucrative new deal to ward off interest from other clubs, Football Insider sources understand.

Warburton has made a new goalkeeper one of his top priorities before the close of the transfer window and subsequently expressed his admiration for Foderingham, who is his top target.

However, Rangers are determined to keep hold of the former Fulham and Crystal Palace youngster as they aim to build a squad capable of challenging Celtic for the Scottish Premiership title this season.

Foderingham still has two years to run on his current deal, but a well-placed source has told Football Insider that the club are now ready to offer him an extension with a significant pay rise to kill off the interest from Forest.

The 26-year-old is understood to be happy with life in Glasgow and at being a key member of the team at such an illustrious club.

Foderingham joined Rangers in 2015 and helped the club win promotion back to the Scottish Premiership in his first season in charge.

He took his game to a new level last season, which was widely regarded as the best of his career, and most fans and pundits regarded him as the outstanding player for Rangers in what was mostly a wretched campaign.
