Philippe Clement has prioritised attacking reinforcements after Rangers started the new season with a 0-0 draw against Hearts on Saturday (3 August), sources have told Football Insider.

The Gers recorded just three shots on target at Tynecastle, while title rivals Celtic started their campaign with a comprehensive 4-0 rout of Kilmarnock.

Sources have told Football Insider that Clement is keen to bring a top-class striker and winger to the club before the end of the transfer window.

The window closes on 30 August, days before Rangers' first meeting with Celtic at Parkhead.

It is believed the future of several Gers players still hangs in the balance with weeks remaining before that deadline, with Cyriel Dessers and Todd Cantwell among the stars linked with exits.

Clement wants 'first-class' winger and striker at Rangers before deadline

Clement and his transfer team have already bolstered the attack with the signing of striker Hamza Igamane and winger Vaclav Cerny in the off-season.

But they are now planning to go one step further as they vie to race Celtic for the Scottish Premiership title once again in the 2024-25 campaign.

Rangers will also face Champions League action from Tuesday (6 August), facing Dynamo Kyiv in a two-legged qualifier which sees the Ukrainian side travel to Hampden Park next week (13 August).

The Gers will then face RB Salzburg or FC Twente with a place in the lucrative league phase at stake if they overcome Dynamo.

Clement will be backed by Rangers chiefs in the closing stages of the transfer window after signing a new contract at Ibrox last week - which runs until June 2028.
