Tottenham have offered Christian Eriksen a mammoth new deal worth £60million in total, Football Insider understands.

The Premier League big hitters are working hard behind the scenes on tying the Denmark international to extended terms following the closure of the European transfer window.

A Spurs source has told Football Insider that Eriksen has been offered a contract worth £230,000-a-week including performance-related bonuses.

This would catapult him straight into the bracket of top earners at the club alongside talisman and goal king Harry Kane.

The deal would also triple the wages of Eriksen, 27, as he weighs up his future at White Hart Lane, where his current deal is due to expire next June.

Mauricio Pochettino has admitted his relief that the playmaker is still at Tottenham following a summer of incessant speculation in which he attracted strong interest from Europe's elite.

Eriksen was dropped from the Spurs starting XI for two of their first three matches of the season, but responded with an outstanding performance in the 2-2 derby draw against Arsenal and will remain at least until January.

Tottenham are aware they could lose the playmaker on a free transfer next summer, while he can also sign a pre-contract with an overseas club from January.
