West Ham are set to offer Brentford striker Neal Maupay a massive pay hike to join them ahead of rival Premier League clubs this summer, Football Insider understands.

The Hammers have turned their attention to the 22-year-old as they look to beef up their front line following failed pursuits of the likes of Maxi Gomez, Salomon Rondon and Callum Wilson.

A West Ham source has told Football Insider the club are ready to offer Maupay a huge pay rise and a five-year contract in a bid to persuade him to sign in the remaining month of the window.

Maupay has two years remaining on his Bees deal and his future is up in the air as he is aware of the Premier League big hitters keen to offer him a big-money move.

Football Insider has been told that Aston Villa have made an approach for Maupay and it has been reported there is also strong interest from Sheffield United and Brighton.

Maupay skipped Brentford's pre-season friendly yesterday and has been given him permission to return to his native France for three days due to him not being in the right frame of mind.

The source explained that West Ham have been told they will have to bid in excess of £15million to land the Frenchman following his goalscoring exploits at Griffin Park last season.

Maupay, who is also attracting interest from clubs in Spain, has an excellent track record in England since signing from St Etienne two years ago.

He scored 28 goals and supplied nine assists from 49 matches in all competitions last season, and has netted 41 times in 95 matches for the Bees.
