Celtic face the prospect of missing out on Scottish rising star Bruno Davidson after he headed to Leicester City for a trial, Football Insider can reveal.

The Hoops have tabled a contract offer for the 15-year-old wonderkid as they look to beat multiple elite clubs to his signature.

A Leicester source has told Football Insider that the club have now entered the chase for Davidson and he spent last week on trial at their training headquarters.

The Premier League high flyers are casting an eye over the young winger at close quarters after the strong impression he has made for Edinburgh boys’ side Hutchison Vale.

Celtic and Sunderland have already made offers for Davidson, while the versatile attacker also had a trial stint at Liverpool earlier in the season.

Davidson featured for Leicester's Under-16s at the weekend, scoring one goal in a 3-1 win over West Ham.

He is understood to have impressed Leicester's coaching staff and the club are expected to follow up their interest by submitting a offer for him.

The teenager will weigh up all his options before making a decision on his future.

Davidson is able to play in any of the attacking positions behind the main centre-forward, including on both flanks and in a central playmaker role.

Celtic have a geographical advantage over the teenager's suitors down south, as it is a relatively short journey from Edinburgh to Glasgow.

They have been successful in prising in-demand young talents to Parkhead this year, with Jeremie Frimpong, centre-forward Jonathan Afolabi and versatile midfielder Luca Connell all spurning offers from English clubs.
