West Ham have made a new striker their number-one priority signing in the closing stages of the transfer window, sources have told Football Insider.

Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider's Inside Track podcast, senior correspondent Pete O'Rourke revealed that the Hammers have been assessing a number of potential strikers and will make a move before the 3 February deadline.

One of the options at this late stage is Ajax forward Brian Brobbey, although the Dutch outfit would prefer a permanent sale while a loan is preferred at the London Stadium.

Brighton star Evan Ferguson had also emerged as a possibility for a late-January loan move after Football Insider exclusively revealed he is looking to leave the Seagulls this month.

Andre Silva has also been heavily linked with the move after falling out of favour at RB Leipzig, with his experience at the top level seen as a valuable asset.

West Ham working on new striker deal before 3 February deadline

West Ham have been in desperate need of a striker after losing both Michail Antonio and Niclas Fullkrug to long-term injuries, leaving Danny Ings as the only natural striker.

Since Graham Potter's arrival, he has opted to use Lucas Paqueta as a false-nine in an attempt to add balance to the side, but their struggles in front of goal have become clear.

Aston Villa turned down a £57million offer for Jhon Duran earlier this month, and the Colombian is now set to move to Saudi Pro League outfit Al-Nassr.

As a result, the Hammers have been forced to turn their attentions elsewhere.
