Juan Foyth is poised to undergo a Tottenham medical and complete a £12million transfer, according to a report.

The Times claim that the Argentine centre-back is set to travel to London in the coming days to put the finishing touches to the long-discussed deal.

It is said that Foyth will have medical tests and discuss personal terms with Spurs after they settled a fee with his current club Estudiantes.

Foyth's arrival comes amid new reports that promising Tottenham centre-back Carter-Vickers is set to join Sheffield United on a season-long loan.

It is said that the 19-year-old is heading to the Championship club following a change of policy from manager Mauricio Pochettino, who has previously been reluctant to allow Spurs' emerging stars to go out on loan.

It appears that Foyth will become the second south American to sign for Spurs, following new club-record signing Davinson Sanchez.

Foyth is clearly one for the future. Hailing from the same country as manager Mauricio Pochettino, he has represented Argentina at Under-20 level and is touted in his homeland as a rising star. Clearly, Pochettino's contacts are saying the same thing. Spurs fans will be miffed that Foyth could be part of the first-team set-up this season, while the highly rated Carter-Vickers will not. But the youngster will benefit from working under Pochettino and his staff, who have an excellent track record for developing young talent.
