Fred is set to complete a move to sign Turkish side Fenerbahce in the next hours after Man United accepted a bid worth £13m, sources have told Football Insider.

The midfielder flew out on Saturday for a medical and to put the finishing touches to the move.

It is understood United will receive an initial £8.62m for the 30-year-old, with an additional £4.31m in potential add-on payments.

Fred moved to United from Shakhtar Donetsk for £47m in 2018.

The Brazil international, whose United contract expires next summer, has been told that he is unlikely to play a significant role in United manager Erik ten Hag's squad this season.

Fenerbahce's Istanbul rivals Galatasaray and Premier League side Fulham were among other clubs to have expressed an interest in the player.

Fred is set to become the fourth player sold by United this summer following the departures of Anthony Elanga, Alex Telles and youth prospect Zidane Iqbal.

His game time in the 2022/23 campaign was limited following the arrival of Christian Eriksen and compatriot Casemiro last summer, and the £60million signing of Mason Mount in recent weeks has pushed Fred further down Ten Hag's pecking order.

Fred made 56 appearances across all competitions in 2022/23, scoring and assisting six times, but he played significantly fewer minutes than in previous campaigns with just 2,275 minutes of first-team action.

The Brazilian's departure could advance United's pursuit of Fiorentina midfielder Sofyan Amrabat, with Football Insider revealing earlier this month that the 26-year-old's agents had travelled to Manchester to hold talks.
