Hull City have agreed a deal to sign Bayer Leverkusen midfielder Gustavo Puerta as he prepares to undergo a medical on Friday, sources have told Football Insider.

Rangers, Brondby, Red Star Belgrade, PAOK and Anderlecht have all registered interest in the central midfielder this summer.

But Hull have won the race for his signature after agreeing to a loan deal plus obligation with Leverkusen to sign Puerta.

The 21-year-old is under contract with the Bundesliga giants until 2028, but they are willing to move him on.

Puerta has made 10 appearances for Xabi Alonso’s side since joining the club in 2023.

After failing to secure a regular place in Leverkusen’s starting lineup, the club are now looking to move him on.

Hull City will use Gustavo Puerta to enhance their midfield options

Hull narrowly avoided the playoffs last season and are now looking to go one step further this season.
