Man United fear Tottenham could block their summer move to sign striker Harry Kane, sources have told Football Insider.

However, sources with knowledge of the situation have told Football Insider that Man United are wary of dealing with Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy.

Levy has earned a reputation for being notoriously difficult to deal with and has often inserted clauses at the eleventh hour in previous high-profile talks.

It is believed that Kane is seen by Man United chiefs as the “difference maker” who will help them bridge the gap to Man City and allow them to compete for the Premier League title in the coming seasons.

The England captain is out of contract in just over 12 months, and United have been encouraged by his reluctance to commit to a new Spurs deal.

Old Trafford chiefs feel the Lilywhites could be forced to cash in on the elite hitman for a potential club-record fee or risk losing him for free in the next year.

Kane has been consulted on the process of selecting a new boss, which is yet to reach a conclusion despite the sacking of Antonio Conte in March.

The red-hot striker, who has scored 28 goals in 46 appearances across all competitions this season, currently earns £200,000-a-week at Tottenham.

Man United have also sounded out alternatives as they look for a forward capable of hitting 20 league goals per season.
