Leeds United striker Jack Clarke is poised to sign his first professional contract at the club, Football Insider sources understand.

Clarke, 16, is regarded as one of the most promising young prospects to come through the youth ranks at Leeds in recent years and the club have moved quick to tie him down.

A well-placed source has told Football Insider that the forward has agreed the terms of his first professional contract and he will put pen to paper when he turns 17 later this month.

Clarke has been a prolific goalscorer for the club's Under-16s and 18s side for the last couple of seasons and he has scored nine goals in just seven starts for the Under-18s so far this term.

The teenager also made his debut for the Under-23s side last season and has remained part of the group this season.

Clarke is currently on a two-year scholarship deal at Leeds after joining the club after finishing school.

The skilful attacker is also training with Thomas Christiansen first-team on a regular basis with the club planning to fast-track him into the first-team due to his rapid progress.

Leeds have a rich history of developing some of the country's best players from their academy system and Leeds have high hopes Clarke will be the next one to play at the highest level.
