Jordan Botaka has confirmed he is still at Leeds amid speculation that he is heading for a surprise exit from the club.

There were Twitter rumours on Tuesday night that Botaka was on trial at League One club Oldham in a pre-season friendly.

Leeds had already loaned another emerging winger, Lee Erwin, to the Latics after a disappointing campaign, and it was plausible that Botaka could also be heading out.

The 23-year-old, who joined from Dutch club Excelsior last summer, was on the fringes of the team in his debut Leeds campaign and made only 14 first-team appearances, just three of which were starts.

But the winger was quick to dismiss rumours that he had left, and insisted on his personal Twitter account when responding to a question from a supporter that he remains a Leeds player.

Botaka appears set to fight for his place at the club, with added competition this season from Sporting Lisbon loanee Hadi Sacko.

He will be looking to make a good impression on new manager Garry Monk with just a year remaining on the two-year deal he signed last summed.

Botaka scored last Friday in a 4-3 comeback win over non-league Guiseley, which was his first goal in a Leeds shirt albeit in a pre-season friendly.
