Leeds striker Mallik Wilks has had his loan deal with Grimsby terminated and has returned to the club to continue his rehab, according to a reliable journalist.

19-year-old Mallik Wilks was on loan with Grimsby until the end of the season but pulled a hamstring last month.

He will now look to get back to full fitness at Thorp Arch.

The news was posted by Phil Hay, senior reporter from the Yorkshire Evening Post, on Tuesday lunchtime.

Football Insider verdict:

This is a shattering blow for the youngster who was looking to gain experience before making a shot at the Leeds first team next season. The youngster spent the first half of the season at Accrington Stanley before joining Grimsby in January. He played four games before getting injured and was still looking for his first goal. His injury is obviously serious enough that he won't play again for Grimsby this season and the decision has been made to pull him back to Thorp Arch. We join with Leeds fans in wishing him a speedy recovery.
