'Leeds United have just wrapped up two underwhelming signings'

Leeds United announced their second summer signing earlier this week, with Jaka Bijol signing from Udinese for a fee of around £15million.

The Slovenia international has signed a contract at Elland Road running until June 2030.

Bijol joins Lukas Nmecha, who has wrapped up a free transfer move to Leeds.

Last month (11 May), Football Insider exclusively revealed that the 49ers Enterprises are planning to back Daniel Farke with a budget of over £100m, which should mean that there are more signings in the works.

However, Everton's former chief Keith Wyness – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – has not been impressed with the quality of Leeds' business so far.

Leeds underwhelming so far, says Wyness

Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, Wyness said that he is "underwhelmed" with the Yorkshire side's first two signings of the summer, and that he had hoped for more.

Leeds have been linked with the likes of Rodrigo Muniz, Douglas Luiz and Gustavo Hamer in recent days.

Wyness added that there is still a long way to go in the transfer window.

He told Football Insider‘s Inside Track podcast: "Leeds have brought in another centre half as well, Bijol, who’s potentially a good player.

"They've also signed Nmecha for free. But are these the players that really are going to mold together a squad that's going to be scrapping every week to keep you in that Premier League?

"I’m slightly underwhelmed by the start Leeds have made, but a long way to go yet.

"It's not what I was hoping for from Leeds in terms of moving forward."

West Ham and Leeds race to sign Gomez

West Ham have reportedly joined the likes of Leeds United and Everton in the race to sign Liverpool star Joe Gomez.

This is according to former Hammers scout Mick Brown, who claimed that the Irons are keeping a close eye on the 28-year-old’s situation.

Brown added that should they be given an indication that the England international, who is not a first choice, will be allowed to leave Anfield, Graham Potter’s side are preparing to make an offer.

There is a belief he could be made available if the Reds sign another centre-back this summer.
