Paul Robinson has claimed that Leeds United will target a new left-back this summer to replace Junior Firpo.

The former England and Leeds goalkeeper, who is well connected at his old club, exclusively told Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast that the Yorkshire club will look to upgrade their left-back position after Firpo's poor performances in the Premier League.

Daniel Farke's side missed a golden opportunity to return to the top of the Championship table against Watford on Friday night (29 March), but the Whites remain in the race for promotion this season.

If they do return to the Premier League, Leeds are expected to experience a busy summer transfer window under their new 49ers ownership.

The Whites are also expected to be in the market for further defensive reinforcements with doubts growing about the future of Stuart Dallas and Liam Cooper.

Speaking on Football Insider's Inside Track podcast, Robinson argued that Leeds will also look to replace Firpo: "From what I know, left-back is certainly an area that we [Leeds] will look at.

"Junior Firpo has played this year and to be fair to him he has done very well when he has played.

"Whether he's found his level in the Championship or not - that's another argument because in the Premier League he was susceptible, made a lot of mistakes and was culpable for a lot of goals that Leeds conceded."

Firpo started the season out of favour at Elland Road but has now made 15 successive league appearances for the Whites.
