Thomas Christiansen would secure Premier League promotion in his first season as Leeds manager by beating Watford to the signing of Man United teenager Timothy Fosu-Mensah.

The Daily Mail claims Watford have enquired over the availability of taking the 19-year-old utility player on loan this season, but United are yet to make a decision over his future.

It is said that manager Jose Mourinho will determine whether a number of fringe stars will be allowed to leave Old Trafford after the UEFA Super Cup against Real Madrid on Tuesday night.

Spanish boss Christiansen has already brought in nine new first-team stars this summer as he looks to push Leeds towards a first Premier League return since the club were relegated from the top flight 13 years ago in 2004.

However, Football Insider believes the Whites should continue their summer spending spree by signing Fosu-Mensah with a number of positions requiring the Dutchman's versatility:

Premier League quality

Two-time Netherlands Under-21 international Fosu-Mensah has already shown in glimpses that he is more than capable of plying his trade alongside the country's best.

Clocking up 21 first-team appearances despite being just 19 years of age, Fosu-Mensah is without doubt going to be a star of the future in years to come.

However, he needs regular first-team football under his belt and moving to Elland Road would see the former Ajax youth player further his development and maximise his potential.

Radrizzani's wallet less heavy

Spending big on the likes of Samu Saiz and Mateusz Klich as well as permanent deals for Pontus Jansson and Hadi Sacko, owner Andrea Radrizzani will be keen to see Christiansen strike a bargain.

The Italian owner has also repurchased Leeds' home, Elland Road, and will now be more reserved in getting his cheque book out.

However, signing players on a free or bringing them to Yorkshire on loan would see Radrizzani open to a move and Fosu-Mensah can be just that man.

Centre-back and right-back cover

Fosu-Mensah's versatility has not gone unnoticed. Able to play anywhere across the back four, United's number 24 can also ply his trade in holding midfield.

With Gaetano Berardi likely to fill the left-back slot with Charlie Taylor moving to Burnley, Luke Ayling is without cover on the right side of defence following Lewie Coyle's loan move to Fleetwood.

Jansson is also suspended for the first two games of 2017-18, leaving just Liam Cooper and Matthew Pennington at centre-back.

Signing Fosu-Mensah would give Leeds a huge sigh of relief if any early injuries occur this season.
