Juventus have claimed that they rejected a bid from Liverpool for midfielder Claudio Marchisio.
The Italian, 29, graduated from Juve's youth ranks and has only ever spent one season away from Turin, during a spell at Empoli in 2007/2008, in his entire career.
The Italian club have confirmed there was strong interest in the central midfielder before he signed a new five-year deal in July.
But chief executive Giuseppe Marotta has insisted Marchisio was never interested in either leaving Juventus or joining Liverpool.
"We always receive a lot of offers for our players, but we are a club that want to buy players rather than selling," said Moratta.
"Marchisio has just extended his contract and I believe he wants to finish his career with us. By the way, Liverpool were not the only side that made an offer for him."
Renowned for his ability to play anywhere across midfield, the Italian was a key part of his side's run to the Champions League final, appearing in every single game in the competition.
In total, he made 52 appearances last season and was then widely linked with a possible summer exit.
Liverpool's Marchisio bid came in the same summer that Juve sold star players including Andrea Pirlo and Carlo Tevez.
