Liverpool fans have taken to Twitter to lay into goalkeeper Adam Bogdan after his performance for the Under-23s in their 3-1 defeat to Middlesbrough on Wednesday night.

Bogdan, 30, featured as an over-age player for Neil Critchley's side as they were knocked out of the Premier League Cup at the last-16 stage.

Mitchell Curry scored a hat-trick for the home side, with his second coming just before the break when he capitalised upon an error from Bogdan, who failed to deal with a cross while under pressure from former Liverpool man Tom Brewitt.

Here is a selection of their messages on Twitter:

Bogdan is way down the pecking order at Liverpool after struggling to make an impact since joining from Bolton in the summer of 2015.

With Loris Karius, Simon Mignolet and Danny Ward ahead of him in the pecking order, the 20-times Hungary international has been frozen out after spending last season on loan at Wigan, which was cut short by a serious knee injury.

Bogdan was linked with a loan move to Leeds United in the January window but a deal could not be agreed.
