Mohamed Salah can continue at his peak well into his thirties for Liverpool, according to Gabby Agbonlahor.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Aston Villa and England attacker tipped Salah to be at the top of his game until he's at least 34, like Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi.

The Egpyt star's current Anfield contract is set to expire in the summer of 2023 and it has been widely reported they are in talks over an extension.

As quoted by ESPN on August 21, Jurgen Klopp confirmed negotiations were ongoing.

However, he told Sky Sports last week (September 17) there was nothing new to add.

"They don't need to give him a five-year deal, nobody gives a 30-year-old a five-year deal," Agbonlahor told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley.

"For Mo Salah, a four-year deal is perfect.

"To be fair, even if you gave him a five-year deal, Mo Salah looks like he could be playing until he's 34, 35, 36. The next Messi and Ronaldo.

"Even if he did slow down a bit, he's still going to be a top player.

"Without Mo Salah, Liverpool wouldn't even get into the top four. So whatever he is asking for in wages, give it to him. It's going to cost you a lot more than that to replace him.

"They should get that sorted. He scores every game and is a quality, quality player.

"His celebration [against Crystal Palace] shows how much he loves Liverpool. He's come out and said he loves Liverpool so they'd be stupid to lose him."
