Liverpool ready to pull the plug on three late deals - sources
Liverpool are considering delaying their transfer business until January after struggling to bolster their squad in the off-season, sources have told Football Insider.
Football Insider revealed on Monday (26 August) that Arne Slot is keen to bring a centre-back, central midfielder and wide attacker to Anfield before the transfer deadline.
Those three areas have been identified as the top targets, but Reds transfer chiefs Richard Hughes and Michael Edwards have so far been reluctant to sanction any deals as they feel prices are inflated.
The Merseysiders are the only Premier League side yet to make a summer signing.
Sources say that unless the right deals become available before Friday's (30 August) deadline, Liverpool will keep their powder dry until the January window.
Goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili is expected to join the Reds but will be loaned back to Valencia for the 2024-25 campaign as Alisson continues between the sticks.
