Liverpool are confident of securing an agreement with Brighton star Alexis Mac Allister after offering him a "huge" salary that would triple his current deal, sources have told Football Insider.

The Merseysiders are making progress on the capture of the World Cup winner, 24, as they look to wrap up a deal within weeks.

Mac Allister is set to bid farewell to Brighton fans after the team's last Premier League clash of the 2022-23 campaign away at Aston Villa on Sunday (28 May).

Seagulls manager Roberto De Zerbi has admitted the midfielder is likely to leave this summer following his outstanding season.

It is believed that Liverpool have already met with Mac Allister's representatives and offered him a contract worth more than £150,000-a-week.

The Argentina international currently earns a reported £50,000-a-week wage on a deal running until June 2025.

A well-placed Reds source has suggested the transfer is "95% done" ahead of the final day of the 2022-23 season (28 May).

Liverpool have not yet secured a full agreement with the player but are increasingly confident of doing so - and negotiations over a deal for Mac Allister are the most advanced of any of their potential new signings.

The midfield star has been a key man for Brighton this term as the south coast club secured European qualification for the first time ever.

He has notched 12 goals and three assists in 39 appearances across all competitions for De Zerbi's side.

Mac Allister contributed a goal and an assist in six starts at the 2022 World Cup as Argentina won the competition.

Liverpool

Liverpool are plotting a radical overhaul of their midfield this summer with the exits of James Milner, Naby Keita and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain already confirmed.

Football Insider revealed on Tuesday (23 May) that the Reds have a "concrete interest" in Wolves captain Ruben Neves.
