Man City "will return" with a bid for West Ham ace Lucas Paqueta this summer after their previous agreement collapsed, sources have told Football Insider.

Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, senior correspondent Pete O’Rourke revealed that Paqueta will be pushing behind the scenes to complete a move to City.

The reigning Premier League champions had agreed an £80million deal in principle to sign the Brazilian playmaker last summer.

However, Paqueta then became tangled in a betting investigation by the FA which denied him the move and caused the deal to collapse.

West Ham smashed their transfer record to complete the £51million signing of Paqueta from Lyon in 2022 and the Hammers will be eager to return a profit on the 26-year-old.

City have retained an interest in Paqueta and have been patiently waiting to resume their pursuit of his signature this summer.

Speaking on Football Insider's Inside Track Podcast, O'Rourke said: "City will return and try and sign the Brazilian in this summer transfer window.

"If Manchester City do rekindle their interest, I'm sure the player himself would probably push for that move to the Etihad for the chance to work under Pep Guardiola and play Champions League football."
