Manchester United are confident of sealing the signing of Crystal Palace defender Aaron Wan-Bissaka next week in a deal worth a total of £55million, Football Insider understands.

The Premier League giants have held extensive negotiations with the Londoners and have made a breakthrough in the structure of the transfer during a new round of talks in London.

A United source has told Football Insider the club are set to pay an initial £40million rising to £55million including performance-related add-ons.

Wan-Bissaka's medical is set to be brought forward following England Under-21s' elimination from the European Championships, and that could now take place next week.

The right-back, 21, was dropped from Aidy Boothroyd's starting XI in favour of Everton's Jonjoe Kenny for Friday's shock defeat to Romania, which means England will not make the tournament's knockout stages.

England will play their final group stage game against Croatia tomorrow night before returning home following what has been another major disappointment on the international stage.

Wan-Bissaka has already agreed personal terms with Ole-Gunnar Solskjaer's side and his salary will be multiplied many times as he becomes United's second signing of the summer.

Ole-Gunnar Solskjaer's side have already wrapped up the £15million signing of Daniel James from Swansea City.
