Man United are keen to sell centre-back Victor Lindelof before the 30 August transfer deadline, sources have told Football Insider.

The Red Devils are working hard to clear the decks after a busy summer transfer window and Lindelof, 30, is considered surplus to requirements.

Facundo Pellistri is closing in on a permanent move to Greek giants Panathinaikos and it is believed he will be the first of many players to be shipped out by United before the deadline.

Lindelof is currently out of action after picking up an injury in pre-season.

He has entered the final 12 months of his contract at Old Trafford after signing his last extension in January.

The defender missed 22 matches for club and country in the 2023-24 campaign with groin and hamstring issues.

Sweden international Lindelof has been pushed further down the pecking order under Erik ten Hag after the summer arrivals of Matthijs de Ligt and Leny Yoro.

He made 28 appearances across all competitions last term, starting in 20 of those outings.

Lindelof joined United from Benfica in 2017 and has made 259 appearances for the club.

Ten Hag's side lined up with Harry Maguire and Jonny Evans at centre-back as they won 1-0 at home against Fulham on Friday (16 August).

De Ligt came off the bench in the second half, while Yoro is out injured after breaking his foot in pre-season.
