Cameron Borthwick-Jackson has agreed the terms of a new Manchester United contract, Football Insider sources understand.

The teenage United defender has finalised talks with the club about signing a £12,000-a-week deal that will run until 2020.

Borthwick-Jackson’s first professional contract is due to expire in the summer and is set to be replaced by the new agreement, which will be worth £2.5million.

The left-back, who turns 19 next month, is set to be rewarded for his performances since breaking into the first team under Louis van Gaal in November.

Borthwick-Jackson has made nine appearances for United and has been granted an extended run in the side following a series of serious injuries sustained by the club’s senior full-backs.

First-choice left-back Luke Shaw faces a fight to play again this season, Marcos Rojo is recovering from shoulder surgery and Tyler Blackett is on a season-long loan at Celtic.

With converted full-backs Ashley Young and Antonio Valencia also long-terms absentees, and Phil Jones only back in training on Friday after a month out with an ankle injury, Borthwick-Jackson is one of the few men left standing.

The versatile Daley Blind can also fill in at left-back but he has established himself as Chris Smalling’s centre-back partner this season.
