Jim Ratcliffe needs be telling Ruben Amorim to "shut your mouth" about Marcus Rashford's situation at Man United, Carlton Cole has said.

Cole though, feels Ratcliffe is unlikely to want the Man United boss to repeat comments of those sort again, as he looks to offload the attacker.

Speaking about those claims from Amorim on the Dressing Room Podcast, the former West Ham striker said: "You're killing his price tag by the way.

"Rashford's a commodity, he's money. If you really want to sell him on, why would you say that? I think Amorim's a little bit naive, because he's going with his emotions. He's thinking 'Rashford's not doing what I'm saying and I'm the boss!'

"Now if I'm Ratcliffe, I'm looking at it thinking 'you need to shut your mouth! We're trying to sell him here and you're saying he's not living the right lifestyle.'"

After Joe Cole likened the situation to a car salesman trying to sell a car with another employee telling a prospective buyer not to do so, Wayne Bridge suggested more may have gone on between the two than is being said.

Carlton Cole then added: "This is what I think, Ratcliffe needs to be clear to Amorim 'stay away from the Rashford conversation please.'

"Because we're trying to do a deal here... there's got to be contribution, you don't talk about it, because we've got to get money in for him."

Ruben Amorim comments won't help Man United move Rashford on

Football Insider Verdict

When it comes to getting Rashford out of the club, it is unlikely that Amorim's claims at the weekend have aided his teams cause.

From the perspective of both wages and a potential fee, the England international is not going to be cheap for anyone considering taking him from Man United.

Hearing Amorim make such a damning verdict on the 27-year-old would then surely make spending that money on him a financial risk that is not worth taking.

So if the club do indeed want to move Rashford on this month, there is a good chance they will not be happy with these latest comments from their manager.

Right now it certainly seems as though a parting of the ways is best for all concerned, allowing the attacker to play again and Man United to raise some useful funds.

As a result it would be a surprise if Amorim has not been warned about making any similar comments to this in the future.
