Crystal Palace are plotting deals for Wolfsburg star Maxence Lacroix and Benfica ace Tomas Araujo as their defensive overhaul continues, sources have told Football Insider.

The Eagles, who have already signed Chadi Riad to bolster their defensive ranks this summer, are exploring their options in the market after losing Joachim Andersen to Fulham.

That deal would leave Oliver Glasner's side needing to forge a completely new centre-back partnership and they are already making moves with that in mind.

Lacroix, who has previously worked with Glasner, is a top target and Palace have already had a bid accepted for the 24-year-old - who is out of contract in 2025.

Meanwhile, the Croydon club have seen a bid rejected by Benfica for Araujo but are planning to return with a new offer in the final days of the window.

Sources say Sheffield United's Anel Ahmedhodzic also features on the Palace shortlist with several other Premier League clubs also keeping tabs on the Bosnia and Herzegovina international.

Guehi lined up alongside Riad as Glasner's side lost 2-0 at home against West Ham on Saturday (24 August).

Palace have lost their first two Premier League games of the season and are next in action in the top flight against Chelsea on Sunday (1 September).
