McAvennie: 'I spoke to Ferguson this morning' and he told me what Rangers have offered to Goldson

Rangers have offered Connor Goldson a "decent" new contract with his current deal set to expire next summer.

That's according to Celtic icon Frank McAvennie, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the latest on the defender.

Goldson is out of contract next summer and as of yet, has not signed a new deal at Ibrox.

Rangers

The centre half is a key player for the Gers and didn't miss a minute of football in any competition last season.

McAvennie claims there are plenty of rumours flying around Glasgow in regard to Goldson and shared what he's heard from former Rangers star Derek Ferguson.

"There are a lot of rumours up here about Goldson," McAvennie told Football Insider's Ben Wild.

"From what I hear, Rangers have offered him good money. I spoke to Derek Ferguson this morning and he's heard there is a decent contract offer.

"There may be something going on, we just don't know. It's worrying he hasn't signed a new deal yet.

"He's a big player for them and he's not tied down, that has to be a concern.

"There must be something going on otherwise he would have signed it. It sounds like the offer is good so it must be for Goldson."

Goldson has been ruled out of the Gers' clash against Sparta Prague this evening.

This leaves Leon Balogun as the only centre half available to Steven Gerrard.
