Sky: 5ft 11in player passes medical after jetting in to seal £5.3m Rangers deal in wages alone

Scott Arfield has passes a Rangers medical and has jetted into Glasgow to sign for the club, according to a report.
Sky Sports Scotland claimed on their Twitter account on Monday morning that the midfielder, 29, has agreed the terms of a four-year deal with the Ibrox club.
As revealed by Football Insider, Arfield will be paid more than £25,000-a-week, meaning his Rangers deal will cost £5.3million in wages alone.

With the Premier League season now over, Burnley have given the green light for Arfield to be announced as the first signing of the Steven Gerrard era. And who could forgive Bears for getting a wee bit excited? Especially as the club have made a serious statement of intent by paying what, by their standards, is huge money to secure Arfield's signature ahead of rival club. The midfielder will earn well over £5million over the entirety of his contract, the sort of deal not handed to a Rangers player for a decade. A left footer who stands at 5ft 11in (according to Transfermarkt), Arfield can play either in central midfield or on the left flank, and he will bring class and bite to a midfield that is in need of reinforcing after once again falling short in the marquee matches this season. Proven in the Premier League, English Championship as well as the SPL from his Falkirk days, Arfield is a battle-hardened competitor who won't wilt in the heat of Old Firm battles, as so many have done in recent matches against Celtic. This is seriously good work by Mark Allen and the Rangers recruitment team.
