Danish centre-back Frederik Alves Ibsen has already started a West Ham medical as he puts the finishing touches to a £1.4million transfer, Football Insider can exclusively reveal.

The 20-year-old has been in London with his agent ahead of agreeing a deal that is set to be completed ahead of the January window.

A West Ham source has told Football Insider that Danish club Silkeborg have accepted a bid for Ibsen and granted permission for hm to join the Premier League outfit.

The Hammers are working on the final stages of the transfer, including a contract and a medical.

Ibsen has completed half of the medical tests and the remainder are in line to be finished in order to finalise an early deal.

West Ham are set to tie up all elements of the transfer by Christmas in order for Ibsen to be registered as soon as the January window opens.

The Denmark Under-21 international can play centre-back and full back and has attracted interest from clubs across Europe.

The youngster first made his debut in the senior team for Silkeborg in September 2018 in a Danish cup game.

He has become a regular for the team ever since and has made 45 appearances for the side.

Silkeborg played in the Danish Superliga last season but were relegated to the first division and that has opened the door for West Ham to make a move.

The Londoners were in the market for a centre-back during the summer and tabled a series of bids worth over £30million for Burnley's James Tarkowski.

However a deal could not be agreed and West Ham eventually signed Craig Dawson on a loan-to-buy deal from Watford.

In other news, Gabriel Agbonlahor has told Football Insider a proven Premier League star is joining West Ham for "£7million" in January - "that will get done".
