Miguel Almiron has been tipped to leave Newcastle United this summer with a move to Saudi Arabia back on the agenda.

Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider's Inside Track podcast, senior correspondent Pete O'Rourke explained that Eddie Howe could look to cash in on the 30-year-old to raise funds which would be reinvested in the squad.

Almiron will not be the only sale at St James' Park this season, with sales of homegrown players also on the cards to raise money towards profit and sustainability limits.

There was interest in the Paraguayan in January as a move to Saudi Arabia seemed on the cards, with their interest having lingered despite not reaching a deal.

Football Insider reported that the winger saw a move collapse in January after clubs were not willing to match his £30million asking price.

Almiron made the move to St James' Park £21million in a then-club record transfer from MLS side Atlanta United in 2019.

If any club is willing to meet their asking price this summer, despite not doing so in January, Newcastle would make a strong profit on a rotation player, which would then be reinvested in bringing players to the club.

Having made 209 appearances for the club, scoring 30 goals and providing 12 assists in that time, the winger made himself a fans-favourite at St James'.

However, he started just 23 games in the Premier League this season, averaging 59 minutes per game, as he often found himself rotated out of the side.

With strong interest in his position, and Howe looking to refresh the squad amid financial pressure, Almiron is near the top of the list of the club's sellable assets this summer.

Well-placed sources told Football Insider that the club will have to sell a top player, with the likes of Alexander Isak linked away, but Almiron is a more realistic option to move on.
