'Incredible' – Ferguson urges Dave King to seal one deal for Rangers in the summer
Barry Ferguson has urged Rangers chairman Dave King to appoint Graeme Murty as the permanent manager in the summer.
He thinks the caretaker manager has done enough and proved himself, and should be rewarded with the job on a full-time basis.
Writing in his column for the Daily Record, Ferguson laid out his case for Murty.
"Graeme Murty might have ended up in the Rangers job by accident but it would be a serious mistake if he’s not given it for good.
"I see a man in complete control of his dressing room and building a side which is ready to go toe to toe with Celtic next weekend and potentially give the champions the fright of their lives in the run-in to the title.
"When you consider the absolute mess he inherited from Pedro Caixinha the turnaround has been quite incredible.
"And as far as I’m concerned, no matter what happens between now and the end of the season Murty has more than earned the right to call himself the manager of Rangers."
Rangers are currently six points off bitter rivals Celtic at the top of the Premiership.
With the Scottish Cup this weekend and the Old Firm derby the following weekend, Rangers have the opportunity to cut the deficit to just three points.
If that happens, it should be seen as an amazing turnaround for Murty, who inherited a mess from previous manager Pedro Caixinha.
Murty made a number of key signings in January, adding players like Greg Docherty, Sean Goss and Jason Cummings.
More importantly though, he's got Rangers playing like a coherent team, with passion and purpose – something Caixinha failed to do in his disastrous short reign at Ibrox.
