Lloyd Kelly has agreed a 'triple-your-money' contract to sign for Newcastle United this summer, sources have told Football Insider.

The 25-year-old completed his medical yesterday and a full agreement is in place for him to join the north-east giants ahead of his Bournemouth contract expiring at the end of this month.

There is no fee involved in the deal, but the English centre-back will receive a “huge” signing-on fee and a contract worth more than £100,000-a-week.

Newcastle are expected to announce the signing soon after Eddie Howe prioritised bringing in defensive reinforcements with proven Premier League experience this summer.

Newcastle United beat Premier League sides to Lloyd Kelly

There was believed to be other Premier League clubs interested in landing a deal for the defender after he’s impressed for Bournemouth in recent years.

Kelly, who Howe signed for the Dorset club from Bristol City in 2019, provides decent top-flight experience and will add to Newcastle’s quota of homegrown, British players.

Despite spending a couple of spells on the sidelines, the former England youth international caught the eye in his 25 appearances last season and offers versatility with his ability to play at left-back.

The centre-back is now on the verge of completing his switch to Tyneside as Howe looks to bolster his backline following long-term injuries to Sven Botman and Jamaal Lascelles, while Paul Dummett has been released.
