Nottingham Forest striker Chris Wood has agreed a new contract with the Premier League high-fliers, sources have told Football Insider.

The 33-year-old's current deal had been set to expire at the end of the 2024-25 campaign.

Forest are set to announce the news in the next 24 hours having already confirmed that Murillo has extended his City Ground stay earlier this week.

Wood was able to discuss a pre-contract agreement with foreign clubs from 1 January but Forest have now secured his future by tying the in-form striker to a new contract.

The New Zealand international has been in stunning form for Nuno Espirito Santo's side this season as they push for Champions League qualification.

He has hit 14 goals and notched two assists in 22 Premier League appearances in the 2024-25 campaign.

Wood is racing the likes of Mohamed Salah (18 goals), Erling Haaland (17 goals) and Alexander Isak (15 goals) for the English top flight's Golden Boot award.

He joined Forest from Newcastle in an initial loan in January 2023, which later became a reported £15million permanent switch.

But Forest have moved to fend off interest in Wood and secure his future as they enter a crucial second half of the 2024-25 campaign.

Espirito Santo's side, who are next in action against Bournemouth on Saturday (25 January), sit third in the Premier League table.
