Chelsea are set to offer Aston Villa a very tempting deal for star player Jack Grealish, according to a report.

TeamTalk claim that Chelsea want to beat off Premier League competition for the 22-year-old by offering £30million for the player and then loaning him back to Villa for 12 months.

Villa were holding out for £40million but are in a financial mess and that makes it less likely clubs will agree to the full price.

Football Insider verdict:

Villa look to be in such a mess that despite the Chelsea deal being the best for the club on the pitch, they might have to turn it down if anyone else offers more money. Grealish is definitely Villa's crown jewel and they'll need to maximise his worth, but we can't see anyone paying £40million at the best of times. This is far from the best of times and £30million and keeping hold of Grealish seems like a great deal for the troubled Midlands side. If anyone wants him more then they're free to step up with a bigger bid, but this looks like the best offer on the table at the moment – especially after the notoriously tight Daniel Levy was said to be lining up a cheeky £15million for the player, in the hope that Villa would be desperate enough to take anything they were offered. It looks like Levy will come up short here – not for the first time – and we wouldn't be surprised to see Grealish become a West Londoner... but not for another 12 months.
