Transfer specialist Jim White has thrown Rangers a lifeline over the seemingly imminent transfer of Steven Naismith to Hearts. Earlier today Sky Sports reported that the Norwich striker was set for a medical at Hearts. Keith Downie, a Sky Sports journalist, said that the striker was heading to Edinburgh on Thursday for a medical and to finalise paperwork.

However, just an hour later Jim White said that although Hearts are the favourites Naismith's signature, Rangers are "still monitoring the situation". He released that update on his personal Twitter page on Wednesday evening.

Naimsith, who has 45 caps for Scotland, had wanted a move back to Ibrox this January and according to the Scottish Sun, was willing to play for free.
