Pundit Exclusive: Rangers star man tipped to reject new deal after two huge Ibrox updates

Rangers may not be able to meet Ryan Kent's wage demands and he could be set to move back to England, according to Gabriel Agbonlahor.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley, the former Aston Villa and England striker claimed the Ibrox club are in a "tough" situation in negotiations.

This site revealed earlier this week the Light Blues are set to offer the 24-year-old a blockbuster £30,000-a-week contract and hope to complete the deal before January.

This comes after the winger ditched his previous agent and is now represented by his family including his brother Casper Kent.

He has been a key part of Rangers' extraordinary unbeaten start to the season and the club are keen to reward him.

Kent has started all but one of the club's games this season and has netted six goals and provided seven assists.

Asked by Football Insider whether he expected the former Liverpool man to commit his future to Rangers, Agbonlahor said: "The problem with Scotland is they don't pay the wages like the top two leagues in England.

"When you're scoring goals like Ryan Kent scores, it's going to put up his wages that he's negotiating for.

"If he changes his agent, the next agent might think he can get him a better deal in a different league.

"It's definitely tough for Rangers because they're only going to have a certain amount they can pay their players.

"If Ryan Kent is one of their better players and he can get more money somewhere else it might be something that happens in the future and he does move to England."

Kent's current contract runs until 2023 and has a £20million release clause in it.
