Rangers fans do not want Graeme Murty to be offered the job on a long-term deal in the summer, according to an extensive Twitter survey.

EstConsultancy, a solid source of Rangers news, conducted the survey on its Twitter page, and it attracted 4,191 votes.

When the dust had settled the results were fairly shocking, with 57% saying they didn't want him to have the job permanently, despite recent form and a solid January transfer window.

Football Insider verdict:

This is Murty's second stint as caretaker manager at Rangers and the general consensus is that he's done a good job. Rangers seem to be closer to bitter rivals Rangers than ever before, and were unlucky to lose the latest Old Firm clash at Ibrox. They went down 3-2 but it was a battling performance and they get another crack at Brendan Rodgers' men in the semi-final of the Scottish Cup. The result seems pretty harsh on Murty, although Rangers fans are ambitious and would perhaps prefer a manager with more experience and a bigger name. The results are skewed somewhat though as the question asks about a "long-term" deal, with some Rangers fans believing he should get a rolling one-year contract. However, after the disastrous reign of Pedro Caixinha, the 47% obviously feel it's better the devil you know.
