Rangers fans were asked whether Graeme Murty should get a permanent long-term deal at the end of the season, and the results were surprising.

EstConsultancy, a solid source of Rangers news on Twitter, asked the question and got over 4,000 responses.

When the poll was done and dusted, 57% said no – a surprising result given what Murty has achieved since he took over from Pedro Caixinha.

Murty has got the Rangers side playing as a team and he's made some pretty astute buys in January, adding Jamie Murphy, Russell Martin and Jason Cummings, among others.

He's also signed Alfredo Morelos and Daniel Candeias to new deals, which suggests that the team is behind him.

The 3-2 loss against Celtic on Sunday was the closest Old Firm clash in years, and he's got another crack at his bitter rivals in the Scottish Cup semi-final.

However, that isn't enough for the majority of Rangers fans, with almost six out of ten not wanting to see him rewarded with a long-term contract.

However, that doesn't necessarily mean they don't want him there beyond the summer – although that's the case for some.

Others think he should be given a short-term contract out to see what he's made of next season.
